Sportsclassic Oberon
April 08
This was a top event, we
loved it, certainly back next year with a bigger engine in the Datsun.
Will keep it short.
Had a blast. Thanks to all the officials and people that made this event
happen.
The whinge
Never before have I noticed the lack of power so much on the hills. Felt
like we had time to read war and peace on the way up each hill. The
engine was slowly dying and starting to spew out about 2 tablespoons of
oil per stage out of the catch can and across the engine bay.
The fun
It was a shame to see Byron and Matt go out in such sedentary
circumstances at the start of stage two. However, we knew then that a
novice win was all ours, well except for Matt Searle and Christopher
Hellessey who we had no chance of catching.
I did say I would keep it short didn’t I.
We had fun. I loved the roads (except the hills). Yes we got a flat, but
I wouldn’t say that the roads are rough (as in car rattling) more just
sharp tyre puncturing stones on occasion.
We won P1 , but
lets be honest, we only inherited it because Mr Munn got a flat in
stage, but still, first trophy, so it's all good.
Now it’s time to drop in an A14 before ROC. Two motors in two events,
lets hope ROC doesn’t make it three.
Thanks to my family/service crew and Jilly for bribing all the
spectators to cheer and of course my brilliant nav Kristy.
ps. does Col Fletcher Photography have a website?
pps. Thanks Byron/Matt for the fuel.
